An incredible class, everyone there was extremely nice and able to teach us how to make some incredible food! We learned how to make Mole, Flan, Tortillas, etc.. The market portion of the tour was also extremely helpful and I learned things about selecting world class ingredients that I won't soon forget. I will be recommending this tour and class to anyone who's interested!

Carmen and her team are fantastic teachers, and we learned so much about Mexico and Mexican cuisine here. Carmen draws on a career in hospitality and strong connections to the slow food scene in Puerto Vallarta and beyond, with everything thought out and a great attention to detail. Highlights included hand-milled corn for tortillas, local produce and the very best fresh fish. Plus the cocktails are fantastic! I recommend that you sign up for both a food tour and a private dinner: the two times we spent here were highlights of our trip to Puerto Vallarta.

We've been to PV quite a few times, but were going with a friend who had never been. We were trying to find a new experience we would all enjoy. Our friend suggested a cooking class, which we thought would be fun. We had been to OCULTO for a secret dinner a couple of years back and been and it was amazing so we knew they were a great option for a cooking class. We chose the morning market adventure, which includes a detailed guided tour through a couple of local markets learning about fruits, vegetables, meats, tortillas and breads we would be using. After that we went to the amazing OCULTO kitchen to prepare our amazing lunch. We were there with another group of 3, and the way we worked in the kitchen really helped to learn about each other and enjoy everyone's company. Our meal consisted of a Chayote salad w/ dressing, Chile en Nogada 😋 a chocolate flan, and a fire roasted salsa as well as making fresh corn tortillas. Not only was everything great, we will definitely be using a few new techniques at home, especially when it comes to making salsa. Carmen was amazing from the market tour to guiding us through the kitchen and menu. Chef Diego & sous chef Brian were excellent at assisting our clumsy techniques through the kitchen and making sure we were preparing a creative wonderful meal. Claudia and Regina came to serve our fantastic meal and create some amazing drinks to pair with it. Everyone there made it a memorable day. Fantastic flavors in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, Oculto is in a league of it's own when it comes to fine dining! Along with 14 friends from Canada and the United States, I was spoiled with a night to remember for my birthday. The evening started as we gathered in "living room" area to mingle and relax. Then we were treated to signature cocktails and 3 appetizers which included quesa-birria tacos, smoked watermelon on corn tostadas, and pickled quail eggs, battered & fried with special sauce! The night then continued when we were then seated at the table and served two premium wines. The Mexican Sauvignon Blanc was perfectly paired with the first course, shrimp ceviche. The second course, their famous duck carnitas with ancho-orange sauce, was paired with Mexican Blend that brought out the best in the dish. The final course was a Cajeta lava cake with marinated berries. Chef Diego brought out the joy in all of us with his gastronomic talent! Carmen and Claudia have a special gem of a restaurant here in Puerto Vallarta. They easily helped me plan this gathering and delivered above and beyond what I could have hoped for. They treat you like royalty at Oculto and made my birthday one I will never forget! Muchas gracias mis reinas culinarias!

The secret dinner we attended was amazing! So much time, care, planning, and love went into each course. We so enjoyed talking with Carmen, Claudia, and their staff. It was not just a meal. It was an experience!

This place is a Gem. Fantastic food, drinks, ambiance and service. We visited in December and were delighted with a Mexican Christmas themed menu that was absolutely delicious and authentic (made me remind my childhood and grandma's cooking) The drinks were amazing, unique and truly made with love. I loved this unique concept where the hosts really make you feel at home. The experience starts in the lounge area where you can chat with your group while sipping the fabulous drinks and enjoying and learning about the appetizers; following by dinner in the dining area where everything is set up to perfection. Every course was to die for. I highly recommend trying this experience, and I will certainly go back next time in in PV.

Just had an exceptional holiday themed dinner with wonderful friends! The team at Oculto are not only very professional and welcoming,but they also accommodate everyone's eating preferences and make it such a personal experience. The food is traditional but beyond, with hand selected ingredients that turn all dishes into a truly gourmet experience and paired with wonder cocktails and wines.

Couple the intimacy of dining with friends with the expertise of haute Mexican cuisine and you get the delight that is Oculto. Carmen and Claudia have created a venue that feels mostly like home, but with the design touches of a restaurant with an open kitchen. Their chef, sous chef, and mixologist spoiled us with tangerine margaritas, cucumber mezcalitos, small bites, Mexican wines, and three courses with deep and subtle flavors: a blue corn huarache with chicharron; slow-cooked prime rib with mole and sides of esquites and baby nopales; soft-centered cajeta cake.
